"I started working for Barceló Harrogate Majestic Hotel 13 years ago as a... banqueting waiter, and have since progressed through the ranks. I would have to say that working for Barcelo is ‘muy, muy bien’!"
Lawrence Chin
Assistant Restaurant Manager at Barceló Harrogate Majestic Hotel
"My career started in the Banqueting department where I was a waiter. After a year or so I also started helping out within the leisure club. I then moved into a full time position in the leisure club once I had finished college. Since then I have worked my way up through the ranks, I was... promoted to Leisure Club Manager in March 2007.
Whilst working for the company I have gained lots of qualifications, including my Level 2 YMCA Gym Instructor, Level 2 YMCA Circuit Training, ISM Supervisory Level Certificates, Level 2 unit award in working with others, Level 2 improving own learning and performance and CIEH Intermediate Health and Safety."

Whilst working I have completed my NVQ qualifications in Fitness Instructing at Level 2 and 3, First Aid, National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, Pool Plant Qualification, and Nutrition and Diet Management... Barceló Hotels helped me to devise a training plan to further my education and maximise my skills.
Richard Opperman
Assistant Operations Manager & Pt Trainer at Barceló Basingstoke Country Hotel
"Barceló gave me a chance to improve myself, and to find success in my own way. I was promoted recently and it was a bit unexpected but I have always been a hard worker who likes to take responsibility. I do my best to answer “yes” to any request. I am proud of myself I am proud of Barceló."
Lucasz Wechman
Housekeeping Supervisor at Barceló Edinburgh Carlton Hotel
"I started work at the Barceló Cardiff Angel Hotel, in September 2005 as a Management Trainee. This was a scheme that involved trainees working in each department and learning how to manage them. At the same time I completed a foundation degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. The degree was integrated seamlessly into my working life and the support that I received from the Hotel was second to none. This was a brilliant scheme to be a part of not only did I get a degree at the end of the two years but I gained so much experience at the same time, that no other full time degree student would have.
... Once my training scheme had finished I became the Assistant Conference & Banqueting Manager, ... when the existing manager left I happily took that role on. We were voted Department of the Year 2008, which was satisfying for both myself and the team as all our hard work and effort had been appreciated by the rest of the hotel."
