PARAMOUNT HOTELS AND ENGLISH HERITAGE PRESENT SPECIAL WEEKEND EXPERIENCES
04/06/2007

Paramount Hotels recently announced a new partnership with English Heritage and they are now delighted to launch a programme of Special Weekend Experiences.  Guests stay in one of the 20 four-star hotels operated by Paramount around the UK and enjoy excursions, talks and discussions led by experts in their field.  Topics cover heritage, history, music and motor sport.  Guests on these breaks will have the pleasure of being with like-minded people and will have the opportunity to meet and talk to the expert hosts and indulge a favourite hobby in lovely surroundings.

Here are a few examples of the breaks included in the brochure:-

“A Place of One’s Own” – stay at the Paramount Basingstoke Hotel and enjoy a private evening at Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s much-loved holiday home on the Isle of Wight.  After dinner on Friday night there will be an introductory talk by the host, Professor Eric Evans, then on Saturday guests travel to the Isle of Wight by ferry stopping for lunch at the Wight Mouse Inn and visiting historic Carisbrooke Castle where King Charles 1st was once incarcerated.  Later there will be a private guided tour of Osborne House, followed by drinks and an early dinner and another talk by Professor Evans.  After returning to the hotel for the night, Sunday brings a visit to The Vyne, a nearby 16th Century house with Tudor chapel.

This break takes place from 12 – 14 October 2007 and is priced at £335 per person.

“Heritage at Work in the Heart of England” is a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes at some historic sites.  Stay at the Paramount Walton Hall & Hotel in Warwickshire, one of the Paramount hotels to have benefited from a major renovation recently.  Your host is the archaeologist and broadcaster, Julian Richard, who will give a talk to the guests after dinner on Friday evening.

On Saturday there will be a visit to Kenilworth Castle and a chance to explore the ruins and examine some of the archaeological finds.  After lunch back at the hotel, there will be talks and question and answer sessions during the afternoon and a quiz in the evening.

On Sunday Stewart Ainsworth of BBC TV’s Time Team will lead a team of experts exploring the landscape and history of Walton Hall, and in the afternoon there will be a visit to nearby Charlecote Park, a Tudor house with a fascinating history.

This break takes place from 5 – 7 October 2007 and is priced at £329 per person.

“Goodwood Revival” is a motor sport enthusiast’s dream weekend; stay at the Paramount Old Ship Hotel on the Brighton seafront and spend the weekend in pole position watching the exciting races recreating the 50s and 60s golden age of motor racing at Goodwood.  Guests have grandstand seats with a great view of the pits.  This break is from 31st August – 2nd September and costs £339 per person.

Not all the breaks are full weekends, there are also one-night specials, including a treat for opera lovers. Stay at the Paramount Palace Hotel, Buxton and see Lesley Garrett, one of the UK’s best-loved sopranos, perform live at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester on 29th November 2007.  The break is priced at £178 per person and includes one night’s accommodation, breakfast and an early dinner, before the concert.
