WELL KNOWN SCOTTISH CHEF KEVIN MACGILLIVRAY JOINS BARCELÓ TROON MARINE HOTEL AS FIRST NEW HEAD CHEF IN 42 YEARS

The Barceló Troon Marine Hotel has appointed Kevin MacGillivray as Head Chef. It is 42 years since the hotel has had a new Head Chef so local residents and hotel guests alike can look forward to some exciting and inspiring new menus.
Kevin is well known in Scotland as the current president of the ‘Federation of Chefs Scotland’. He was also Scottish Chef of the Year from 2000 to 2002 and previously captained the Scotland Culinary Team for ten years.
Kevin brings with him over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry having worked as an Executive Chef at both Lochgreen House Hotel and Ballathie House Hotel, where he maintained the prestigious award of two AA Rosettes.
His main focus will be building on the good reputation of the hotel, as well as holding cookery demonstrations and ladies days at the hotel.
He says: “This hotel has a fantastic location and I’m excited at the prospect of creating a whole new buzz not just for the restaurant, but for the hotel as a whole. I want to spread the good reputation of the restaurant even further afield and we will be hot on the tail of AA rosettes and other culinary awards.”

Kevin’s style of cooking is traditionally Scottish with a modern twist. He has a passion for fresh local and seasonal ingredients and as Head Chef at the hotel he will ensure that these have pride of place on the menu.

Kevin works closely with Ayr College to help develop the next generation of chefs and he has recently appeared as a presenter on the BBC Scottish Good Food Show, alongside Tanya Ramsay, Martin Wishart and Tom Kitchin.
The Barceló Troon Marine Hotel is located in the heart of Burns Country overlooking the 18th hole of the Royal Troon golf course. The hotel’s Fairways Restaurant looks directly over the Golf Course and has spectacular views of Arran. Fairways is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day and an extensive lounge menu is available in the Arran Lounge and Bar.
