The Paramount Majestic Hotel, Harrogate has announced proposals for a multi-million pound investment that it hopes will boost Harrogate’s lucrative conference market earnings.

The first phase of the investment, a £3 million refurbishment programme is underway. This work will see the creation of 12 additional bedrooms as well as the upgrading of all existing bedrooms. Function and meeting space within the hotel will be increased and refurbished. The ground floor area will receive a makeover with new carpets and décor and the introduction of a new informal coffee and snack area in the South Lounge.

For the second phase of the investment, the hotel is entering into public consultation for planning consent to proceed with an extension to the existing building which will provide for more guest bedrooms, additional meeting facilities and the creation of a spa on the site of the original Winter Gardens.

Plans for the extension will be featured on a display for viewing in the hotel’s French Restaurant from Monday 22nd until Friday 26th January 2007 between the hours of 10am and 7pm daily.

In addition, on Thursday 25th January 2007 from 6.30pm – 8pm, the project architects and Paramount personnel will be on hand to answer questions at a public meeting in the French Restaurant.

In real terms Harrogate has experienced a decline in the number of serviced accommodation rooms over recent years and we believe that client demand for our proposed development already exists.”
