During the summer, Longborough Festival Opera fills a privately-owned house on the edge of this Cotswold village. The event has a party atmosphere and black tie is optional, although many visitors like to look the part.
The Longborough Festival Opera was founded in 1991 by Martin and Lizzie Graham. It started with single performances of Cosi Fan Tutte and The Marriage of Figaro by Travelling Opera in aid of Sue Ryder and Barnados, but each successive year has seen an increase in the number of operas and performances.
Performances in 2009 include Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Please visit the festival website for full details of this year's programme.
