Local attractions Angus recommends

The Lygon Arms is full of history and tells an interesting story.

Between 1642 - 1645 when the Civil War raged through Britain, King Charles I passed through Broadway at least six times and stayed at the Inn on a couple of occasions, there is a suite named after him.

The Lygon Arms has three acres of grounds, which include lawns, flower gardens, croquet, archery and floodlit tennis. With Stratford-upon-Avon to the north and Oxford to the south, the Cotswolds provide great opportunities for outdoor tours and activities. There are bicycles for hire locally and riding is a favourite pastime. There is also golf, carriage riding, clay pigeon shooting and trout fishing. Gliding and hot-air ballooning and helicopter rides can easily be arranged.

The Cotswolds
Attracting visitors all year round The Cotswolds has exceptional beauty and charm and is a fascinating place to explore with something for everyone to enjoy.  Broadway village stands at the foot of the Cotswold Hills adjacent to Fish Hill which is the highest point of the northern end of the hills.  It is surrounded by spectacular natural beauty that cannot be found anywhere else in England.  Rolling countryside, glorious gardens and impressive churches are perfect for a tranquil stroll whilst the bordering cities of Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Oxford offer endless hours of shopping, history and culture.

Broadway is one of the Cotswold's finest villages with antique shops, galleries and pubs just a short stroll from the hotel. Plus nearby is Hidcote Gardens and Sudeley Castle.
