There is so much to see and do in and around Buxton so to help you get the most out of your time with us we have selected just a few ideas to help you along the way...

DAY ONE
Have an early breakfast then take a drive just 30 minutes down the road...

 • Chatsworth House: home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, the house is a treasure trove of antiques, and the gardens are the ideal place for a picnic (one can be provided by the Barceló Buxton Palace Hotel when pre-booked). There is also a farm and an adventure playground for the kids. On the way back from Chatsworth stop off at the Chatsworth farm shop it is packed with high quality produce from the estate and local providers.

 • Pavilion Gardens: 23 acres of recently restored gardens in the heart of Buxton. The gardens often play host to farmer markets, regional food fairs and arts & design fairs. The Pavilion is also home to the local Tourist Information Centre.

DAY TWO
If you have children then there are some great places nearby to take them to...
 • Go Ape: (minimum age 10) your little monkeys can climb 30ft rope ladders, swing through the air like Tarzan and slide down the zip wires.

 • Gulliver's Kingdom: is a family theme park designed to cater for families with children between 2-13 years. All of its rides and attractions are designed to offer the whole family a full day out of fun and excitement.

If you are looking for something a little more sedate why not visit...
 • Poole’s Cavern: one of the most spectacular caverns in the peaks features natural crystal sculpture, cascading water and incredible stalactite formations.

After your morning of excursion you may need a little sweet pick me up... 
 • Bakewell: just 20 minutes down the road from the hotel is Bakewell, a lovely little village that is home to the traditional Bakewell tart and pudding. With its lovely shops and tea houses it's a great place to walk round, or just sit by the river feed the ducks and watch the world go by.

DAY THREE
When in Rome do as the Romans do...

 • Walking or Cycling: you are right in the heart of the spectacular Peak District with a wide selection of walks and rides in the local area, from easy circular 5 miles (general starting and ending or passing the odd pub) to 30 miles if you're feeling energetic. If you haven’t got your bike with you there are local hire shops that can help out.

 • Relax & Pamper: after all that exercise what could be better than being pampered in our beauty salon book. Enjoy a relaxing message, body wrap or just a mini manicure, and let our team of friendly and professional beauticians take care of you. If you're still feeling energetic why not go burn off some more calories in our gym and then relax with a swim and sauna.


OTHER THINGS TO DO
 • Carsington Water and Derwent Water are both nearby and are lovely for a walk or you can hire boats.
 • If you're in need of some retail therapy Buxton is ideal with its lovely boutique shops, or less than a hour away is the Trafford Centre with its hundreds of shops, restaurants and a cinema.
 • Buxton Opera House is a beautiful setting for some fantastic productions; from high end Opera to shows for the kids and everything in between.
 • Alton Towers and The American Adventure theme parks are not too far away, and ideal for a fun day out for all the family.
