Chester Zoo is situated just two miles north of the city centre. Spacious near-natural surroundings are home to 7000 animals, many of which are endangered.

Some of the major features of the zoo include the Tropical House, the Penguin Pool (with underwater viewing), the Chimpanzee House, the Island Aquarium and the Asian Elephant House. You can even coo over baby orang-utans.

The zoo also boasts one of the UK's largest bird collections, the Black Rhinos Award-winning gardens, a Zoofari and an overhead monorail, and is part of a worldwide conservation programme.
