Deva Triathlon

Hardcore athletes slog it out in this Olympic distance triathlon in Chester, which consists of a gruelling 1500-metre swim, a 40-kilometre cycle and a 10K run.

The Deva Triathlon is the North West Regional Championship, but the event is open to anyone who is fit enough to take the challenge. For the past few years the race has taken place in and around Chester city centre. Contestants plunge into the river, take a rural bike ride and then a riverside run - not that they are likely to be admiring the view.
