Just outside the city walls and with views of the River Dee, 20-acre Grosvenor Park has a classical 19th-century design. Tree-lined avenues, sweeping lawns and ornamental flowerbeds make for a beautiful, green setting, far from the bustle of Chester's centre.
Feed the ducks at the pond or take the kids on a miniature railway ride. Head to the west side of the park for the sensory garden and a recreation area for sporting activities.
Architectural highlights include 13th-century St Mary's Arch, part of the former St Mary's Benedictine Nunnery, as well as The Old Shipgate Arch and Jacob's Well Drinking Fountain.
