Chester's original Dewa fortress is still buried under the bustle of the modern-day city. The Dewa Roman Experience brings to life the sights, smells and sounds of Roman life with hands-on exhibits and a reconstructed Roman street.

Chester started out life as a Roman fort in AD79 and used to be known as "Dewa". Begin your journey back in time at the Roman Galley, which features interactive exhibits about Roman Chester. Cradle ancient pieces of pottery or try on a suit of Roman armour. Kids love firing the catapult and designing colourful mosaics.
