Jul 2010 (annual)
Hours: 11am
Luss, described as the prettiest village in Scotland, on the western shores of Loch Lomond is famous as the setting for the soap opera, Take the High Road. If any additional excuse is needed for making a visit, then try its annual Highland Gathering.
"Heavy" events promise to amaze and amuse as large men in tartans hurl huge objects as far as they can. Attractions here include shot-putting, hammering and the most famous of Highland sports - tossing the caber. Pipe music and line dancing make the day more than just a battle of the muscles. This is truly a great family day out and a staple of the annual Scottish calendar.
