Preston Park covers 63 acres, with a formal rose garden, six bowling greens and 12 tennis courts, plus a children's playground, a croquet lawn, a garden for the blind and a small pond with stepping stones.
Opposite the park, on the other side of the London Road, is The Rockery, the largest municipal rock garden in Britain, built with 1350 tons of Cheddar stone.
The park plays host to festivals throughout the year - such as the Circus Festival and Pride, is a favourite of skateboarders and even has a statue of local athlete Steve Ovett (it's down near the road at the corner of the park).
