The Volk's Railway can carry up to 40 passengers for about a mile along Brighton beach and is a lovely way to get to the Marina from the centre of town.
The railway was opened on 4 August 1883 by Magnus Volk, the man who designed and built it from scratch, and was the first public electric railway in the world. It has just three stops - The Aquarium, Peter Pan's playground halfway along Maderia Drive and Black Rock Station, which is only five minutes' walk from the marina.
