The Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway runs for seven miles along the English Riviera, providing train-mad children (and adults) with a fabulous opportunity to enjoy the spectacular Devon coastline.
The train line hugs the coast between Paignton and Churston, passing Goodrington Sands then turning inland to wind up wooded slopes before meeting the River Dart estuary at Kingswear. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Lyme Bay and Portland Bill. The journey takes 30 minutes.
Try and time your visit to give yourself an hour or two to discover the historic port of Dartmouth, home to the renowned Britannia Royal Naval College, Bayard's Cove and Dartmouth Castle.
Please check the railway's website for detailed information as there are some sporadic days throughout the season when the train does not run.
