Established in the early 1990s, The Taff Trail offers walkers and cyclists the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Welsh countryside at any time. The trail's canals, forest tracks and disused railway lines are interspersed with industrial heritage sites.
Whether you're cycling or setting out on foot, a succession of gentle gradients ensures a relaxing experience - with extra brownie points awarded for exploration as opposed to clocking up the miles.
The trail starts at Pierhead in Cardiff Bay before taking in Bute Park and Castell Coch. A variety of routes link the capital with Brecon - the longest of which boasts the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park as the highlight of its 71 miles.
